Situated on the outskirts of San Miguel de Allende, at the perfect distance—close enough to reach the heart of the city within minutes, yet far enough to offer complete privacy—Luna Escondida has once again proven to be the dream setting for couples seeking a wedding venue that seamlessly blends romance, elegance, and understated luxury.
In February 2024, Luna Escondida hosted the breathtaking wedding of Tanya González & Rahul Chandhok, a celebration that beautifully merged the rich heritage of Indian culture with the enchanting traditions of Mexico. The event captured the attention of ELLE, the renowned international fashion and lifestyle magazine, which featured it in its May 2024 edition as a benchmark for intercultural destination weddings.

A décor filled with beauty and meaning
Luna Escondida is known for hosting weddings that transcend the ordinary. On this occasion, its lush gardens, striking architecture, and breathtaking landscapes became the perfect canvas for Tanya & Rahul to write one of the most significant chapters of their love story. As ELLE describes, "Luna Escondida transformed into a magical setting for the couple’s traditional Indian ceremony, rich in intricate details and cultural significance."
From the vibrant floral arrangements that adorned the ranch’s gardens to the majestic mandap set within Jardín Colibrí, every detail was thoughtfully designed to honor Indian traditions while harmonizing with the venue’s natural beauty.

Rituals and the splendor of an Indian wedding

Indian weddings are renowned for their vibrancy, elaborate ceremonies, and deep emotional significance. Tanya & Rahul’s celebration at Luna Escondida was no exception. The festivities began with an intimate Haldi ceremony, a moment so moving that it brought Rahul’s father to tears—overwhelmed by the joy of seeing this cherished cultural tradition come to life in a setting that felt as if it had been transported straight from India to Mexico. Marigold garlands, hanging lanterns, and exquisite carpets contrasted beautifully with the lush greenery of Luna Escondida.

Later, the Baraat filled the venue’s winding cobblestone paths with music and dance, as friends and family accompanied Rahul’s grand entrance.

The Anand Karaj, the sacred Sikh wedding ceremony, took place within the striking glass walls of the Observatorio in Jardín Colibrí. The ritual was officiated in both English and Spanish, ensuring that every guest could follow its significance. As the sun began to set, the evening reception commenced with a cocktail hour just outside the Caballerizas, in front of the venue’s grand cascading waterfall. Guests were treated to traditional Mexican dances, including baile folklórico and danzas de Veracruz, a heartfelt tribute to the bride’s father.
For the décor, conventional floral arrangements were set aside in favor of an opulent, sculptural design, evoking the feeling of an enchanted forest within Salón Luna.

The celebration reached its climax as the newlyweds made their grand entrance to the beat of the dhol, an Indian drum infused with Latin rhythms. During dinner, a duet of piano and vocals performed spanish love songs, creating an atmosphere of warmth and romance. And despite the inevitable fatigue, the excitement of the night kept everyone on the dance floor until two in the morning—an unforgettable ending to a wedding that was as mesmerizing as it was heartfelt.
As the last notes of music faded into the night and the final flickers of candlelight danced against the walls of Salón Luna, Tanya & Rahul’s wedding at Luna Escondida became more than just a celebration—it became a story to be told, a memory etched in the hearts of those who witnessed it. A wedding where two cultures met, not in contrast, but in harmony, wrapped in the timeless beauty of San Miguel de Allende.
Luna Escondida remains, as always, a place where love stories unfold with effortless grace, where every wedding is a masterpiece, and where romance lingers long after the last dance.
